do I bid?
Bidding
is done from your computer either in real time or by our system’s
auto bid feature.
If you prefer, you may submit your bids by fax. Just fill
out our Advance
Bidding Form and return it to us.
Where
is the equipment located?
All
equipment stays at the seller’s location. Our Site will
show you in which province/state and region the items are
located.
Can
I inspect the equipment myself?
Hodgins provides detailed descriptions, numerous photos, and
for some items Guaranteed
Inspection Reports, making it unnecessary for you to view
the items in person.

What
is a Showcase Auction?
Showcase Auctions are auction events where items are offered
on a fixed date.
What
is a Signature Auction?
A Signature Auction is an auction where items are up for auction
over a period of 7 days.
Do items have reserved prices?
Equipment in Showcase Auctions do not have reserve prices.
Equipment in a Signature Auction may or may not have a reserve.
What
about opening bids?
All items in Showcase and Signature Auctions have opening
bids set by the Auctioneer.
Can
I increase my maximum bid?
Yes! Just place a new bid and specify your new maximum amount.
Can
I decrease or retract my bid?
No, all bids are final and binding.
Do
I have to bid in whole increments?
Yes, all bids must be in whole increments. The bid increment
can vary between items, and between auctions, but the system
will only allow you to bid in whole increments.
What
if two maximum bids tie?
The earliest bid always takes precedence.
When
is an auction extended?
Bids placed within the last 3 minutes on any auction item
will extend the bidding time by three minutes. Bidding on
any item can be extended numerous times, until there has been
three minutes without any bidding activity.
What
is a Sharper Pencil Offer?
If a Signature Auction closes or an Immediate Purchase Listing
expires and the reserve price is not met, a seller has the
option of making the item available for sale to the highest
bidder at a price equal to that bidders maximum bid amount.
The high bidder has two business days to accept the offer.
How
do Guaranteed Inspection Reports work?
Our Guaranteed
Inspection Reports mean you are guaranteed to receive
your piece of equipment as it has been represented in our
inspection report. Subject to our Deemed Receipt rules, after
you receive your equipment you have one business day to report
to Hodgins any significant discrepancies between the condition
of the equipment when you received it and the condition described
in the inspection report. If the discrepancy is validated
through our dispute resolution process, in our sole discretion,
we will either refund the purchase price plus any transportation
costs to you, or the equipment may be repaired at no cost
to you.
